Loutra tis Afroditis - Pegeia E4 Long Distance Trail
This path, "Loutra tis Afroditis", is imbued with the myths inspired by Aphrodite and Adonis. The route follows the contours of the coast. To the sound of breaking waves, ramblers head past Fontana Amorosa, Agios Kononas, and the protected beach at Lara-Toxeftra, where the green and loggerhead turtles nest to reach the entrance into Avakas Gorge just before the village of Pegeia (alt. 100 metres). This is an impressive trail through the Akamas peninsula with many attractions, such as sea caves, gorges and maquis forest. As this is the longest path and ramblers are away from inhabited areas, it is recommended they go prepared for a continuous trek, up to the village of Pegeia. Camping inside the Akamas National Park is prohibited.
