Bei arch\u00e4ologischen Ausgrabungen in den D\u00f6rfern Pyrgos und Erimi [Bezirk Lemesos (Limassol)] wurden Weinkr\u00fcge zutage gef\u00f6rdert, die vermutlich mehr als 6.000 Jahre alt sind. Die Rebsorten Zyperns z\u00e4hlen zu den \u00e4ltesten auf der Welt und der s\u00fc\u00dfe Dessertwein Commandaria ist der \u00e4lteste Wein der Welt mit Herkunftsbezeichnung, der noch immer hier gekeltert wird.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n\tZypern besitzt sieben Weinstra\u00dfen: Laona &#8211; Akamas, Vouni Panagias &#8211; Ambelitis, Pitsylia (auch: Pitsilia) und die Weind\u00f6rfer im Bezirk Limassol, die unter dem Namen \u201eKrasochoria\u201c bekannt, der sich aus den griechischen W\u00f6rtern f\u00fcr \u201eWein\u201c und \u201eD\u00f6rfer\u201c zusammensetzt und so die Geschichte der langen Weintradition dieser D\u00f6rfer erz\u00e4hlt. In allen Weind\u00f6rfern werden sowohl Rot- als auch Wei\u00dfweine gekeltert.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tDie beiden wichtigsten einheimischen Rebsorten sind Mavro (rot) und Xynisteri (wei\u00df). Xynisteri ist die am weitesten verbreitete wei\u00dfe Rebsorte und bringt helle, leichte Wei\u00dfweine mit niedrigem Alkoholgehalt (11-11,5 Vol.-%) hervor. Die rote Rebsorte Mavro tr\u00e4gt gro\u00dfe und saftige Trauben, aus denen dunkle Rotweine von leichtem Geschmack gekeltert werden. Commandaria entsteht aus dem Verschnitt, d. h. der Vermischung von Mavro und Xynisteri, die ebenfalls beide zur Herstellung des zyprischen Tresterbrandes Zivania verwendet werden.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWeitere heimische Rebsorten sind die alten und seltenen roten Trauben Maratheftiko und Ophthalmo. Auf Zypern werden aber auch ausl\u00e4ndische Rebsorten angebaut, darunter die wei\u00dfen Sorten Chardonnay, Muscat d\u2019Alexandrie, Palomino, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc und Semillon sowie die roten Sorten Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, Grenache Noir, Mataro und Syrah (auch Shiraz).<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWeinkenner werden sich freuen zu h\u00f6ren, dass viele zyprische Weing\u00fcter, Weind\u00f6rfer und Klosterkellereien f\u00fcr F\u00fchrungen und zur Verkostung ihres \u201eNektars der G\u00f6tter\u201c ge\u00f6ffnet sind*.
