Katydata hat seinen Namen \u00fcber die Jahrhunderte beibehalten und wurde im Mittelalter \u201aCattidata\u2018 genannt.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tDie Hauptkirche des Dorfes ist dem Heiligen (Agios) Ioannis Theologos gewidmet und wurde 1870 auf den \u00dcberresten einer noch \u00e4lteren Kirche errichtet.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn der nahe gelegenen Kupfermine<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><em>Skouriotissa<\/em><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>wurde seit der Antike Kupfer abgebaut. Sie war (und ist!) die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Kupfermine Zyperns und die einzige, die auch heute noch in Betrieb ist. Mit dem hier gewonnenen Kupfer werden noch immer Kupferkathoden hergestellt.
