Your favorite summer will be with you again to celebrate together its 23rd edition in the same place we meet in recent years, at beautiful Val`s Place<\/strong>, in the beautiful village of Gialia<\/strong>, on Friday <\/strong>the 25th <\/strong>and Saturday <\/strong>the 26th <\/strong>of August 2023<\/strong>!
\nThis year we will present 6+1<\/strong>  shows – 3 <\/strong>each night – including 21 <\/strong>musicians from Cyprus plus two <\/strong>specially invited stars from abroad, having as a highlight of this year`s event the first performance of Mario Bakuna<\/strong><\/a> in Cyprus. He is bringing his music from the \u2018Brazilian Landscapes<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 promising a magical evening!!
\nIn general, we have once again prepared a rich musical program that we feel very proud to present to you!<\/p>\n

\n\tFriday 25th of August<\/span><\/h3>\n

We start on Friday at 8.30 p.m. with the first appearance of the <\/a>Havana Noche<\/a><\/strong> at our festival. The well-known Lain Jazz Band is hitting Paradise Jazz Festival`s stage for an unforgettable set, willing to transmit their energy, enthusiasm, and passion for Latin music.The band was formed in Cyprus by percussionist and drummer Constantinos Paouros<\/strong><\/a> and participating musicians from Cuba, Colombia, and Cyprus. Their music is rooted in Latin jazz genres such as son cubano, salsa, timba, and cha-cha.<\/p>\n

In Gialia Village, partners on stage will be Alexander <\/strong>Rodriguez<\/strong><\/a>  – on piano,Mike <\/strong>Michael<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 on trumpet, Nicolas<\/strong>Tryphonos<\/strong><\/a>\u2013 on acoustic bass, and Giorgos Koulas<\/strong> \u2013 on congas.<\/p>\n

Next on Friday are Allusion <\/strong>Quartet<\/strong><\/a>. The band is based on a collaboration between Antreas Yerolatsitis<\/strong> (guitar) and Omiros Miltiadous<\/strong> (drums). After many years of playing together in different band settings, styles, and concepts, the two musicians are now joined by Marios Charalambous<\/strong> on tenor saxophone and Kyriakos Kesta<\/strong><\/a> on double bass, forming a full band quartet.<\/p>\n

The Allusion quartet is playing primarily their original compositions. Their music is jazz with influences from many genres, such as pop, funk, soul, blues, modal and free. As a result, every performance is an exciting variety of sounds and grooves. Improvisation and spontaneity, collectiveness, and interplay are some of the main characteristics of their playing style.<\/p>\n

And last Friday’s show is the highlight of our festival. The ‘Brazilian Landscapes<\/a>‘ is the new project conceived by Mario <\/strong>Bakuna<\/strong><\/a> featuring new arrangements of material by great composers such as Marcos Valle, Claudio Bertrami, Gilberto Gil, Jo\u00e3o Bosco, and the ‘forrozeiros’ Dominguinhos and Luiz Gonzaga.<\/p>\n

Brazilian Landscapes is a legitimate piece of Brazilian Jazz and a tribute to the culture and memory of the Brazilian people and is the result of years of inspiration Mario drew upon while traveling through Brazil, experiencing its rhythmic and harmonic richness. From the arid landscape in the northeast that’s brought to the chorus of songs of Forr\u00f3, Bai\u00e3o, and Xaxado, to the African influence found in Ijex\u00e1, the popularity of Samba and the sophistication of Bossa Nova, Mario, and his musicians celebrate the most musically-rich territory on Earth.<\/p>\n

Mario Bakuna is on vocals and guitar, Elias Ioannou on trumpet, Christos Yerolatsitis on piano, Rodrigo C\u00e1ceres on bass, and Rodos Panayiotou on drums.
\n <\/p>\n

\n\tSaturday 26th of August<\/h3>\n

On Saturday evening, we will start with Eleonora`s Roussou<\/strong><\/a>\u201cBeats’n’Pieces<\/strong><\/a>\u201d, which is a music project of songs from various music genres – as suggested by its name – and was created in 2018<\/strong>, aiming to explore the diverse depictions of love <\/strong>in different music styles. As time goes by, the repertoire keeps growing, and this year’s exploration is in jazz<\/strong>, pop<\/strong>, and soul<\/strong>, including some original <\/strong>songs.
\nEleonora Roussou<\/strong><\/a>– voice, flute, melodica,Alexis Kasinos<\/strong><\/a>– guitar,Andreas Rodosthenous<\/strong><\/a>– bass guitar, Rodos Panagiotou<\/strong><\/a>– drums<\/p>\n

We will continue within the framework of our academic goals and will grant a little time on stage for young apprentice artists and creators. Last year Dafni Koulas<\/strong><\/a> appeared as a surprise, but this year she will officially present us with two <\/strong>new compositions.
\nDafni <\/strong>is 12 <\/strong>years old, and she started playing piano at the age of 8 <\/strong>with teacher Antonis Polikarpou<\/strong>. Until now, she had already created more than 10 <\/strong>compositions, and some of them were used for contemporary dance choreographies by Milena Ugren Koulas<\/strong><\/a>.
\nFrom September <\/strong>she will attend the music gymnasium <\/strong>in Limassol.<\/p>\n

On the next show on Saturday<\/strong>, we will meet \u201cMOCA\u201d<\/strong><\/a>an instrumental band formed out of four friends who share a deep passion for jazz music and have studied it extensively in the beautiful city of Amsterdam<\/strong>. They also have had the opportunity to teach and play music together in the vibrant and diverse city of Mumbai<\/strong>, which has further enriched their musical knowledge and experience.<\/p>\n

With their finely-tuned skills on various instruments, this quartet delivers a powerful and dynamic sound that showcases their talents while seamlessly blending to create a harmonious and cohesive performance.
\nTheir unique style draws from a range of jazz influences, and it’s a collective work that contains original music from all the band`s members. Each member brings a distinct flavor to the mix, and their performances reflect their dedication to their craft and love of music.
\nMarios Menelaou<\/strong><\/a> is on bass (Cyprus), Odysseas Toumazou<\/strong><\/a> on guitar (Cyprus), Christos Yerolatsitis<\/strong><\/a> on piano (Cyprus), and Aron Nyiro<\/strong><\/a> on drums (Hungary), who will visit Cyprus in August to join his friends on stage.

\nThe last performance of Saturday <\/strong>and our festival is a gypsy jazz<\/strong> group that combines the rich musical traditions of the world with an accent of the French <\/strong>and Balkan <\/strong>region, with jazz <\/strong>in the first role, creating a unique and captivating sound. The band’s talented musicians deliver excellent performances that are sure to delight the audience.
\nWith soloists, the singer Atys<\/strong><\/a> with the typical gypsy <\/strong>voice, and the special guest from Greece <\/strong>for the show, trumpeter Pantelis Sto\u03b9kos<\/strong><\/a> will travel us through Central Europe<\/strong> and the Balkans<\/strong>.
\nThe perfect outcome complements Odysseas Toumazou<\/strong><\/a> on guitar, Christos Yerolatsitis<\/strong><\/a> on piano, Marios Menelaou<\/strong><\/a> on bass, and George Koulas<\/strong><\/a> on drums. <\/p>\n
