The PSI Foundation is proud to announce the opening of the\u00a0Tekton\u00a0<\/em>exhibition in its premises to be visited from April 7, 2025. The exhibition will be the first to showcase the visionary work of Andreas Papadopoulos and Phoebus Polydorides, a pioneering engineer-architect duo active in Limassol in the late 1950s and early 1960s.<\/p>\n

Andreas Papadopoulos\u00a0<\/strong>(1922\u20132009) was a skilled engineer and an active advocate for the independence of Cyprus, later serving as the Minister of Transport and Works in the country\u2019s first independent government.<\/p>\n

Phoebus Polydorides\u00a0<\/strong>(1926\u20132019) played a key role in defining Limassol\u2019s urban aesthetic, designing several iconic buildings, including\u00a0Aktaia<\/em>, which became a landmark of the city\u2019s modernist transformation.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Tekton\u00a0<\/em>exhibition delves into the evolution of Modernist architecture in Cyprus, highlighting its role as a powerful symbol of the country’s newfound sovereignty and as a response to the colonial architectural style of the first half of the 20th century. It examines the achievements of Papadopoulos and Polydorides, who introduced innovative architectural forms into the Cypriot landscape and proposed important urban solutions that shaped the identity of the evolving country. Unpublished archival materials offer a rare glimpse into the duo\u2019s contributions to Cyprus\u2019 cultural and architectural heritage.<\/p>\n

The revolutionary approach is further developed by a site-specific installation by British artist\u00a0Matt Collishaw\u00a0<\/strong>Aftermath<\/em>. Specially created for the dramatic modernist interior of the PSI Foundation in 2024 it serves as a bridge between the past and the future via the unique dialogue on cultural transformation that incorporates artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

Tekton\u00a0<\/em>is curated by Dimitri Ozerkov, Chief Curator of PSI Foundation and former director of the Contemporary Art Department at the Hermitage Museum, and Danila Parniouk, acclaimed photographer and Art Director of PSI Foundation. The exhibition will run through August 2025 and will be open to the public free of charge in the working hours available at https:\/\/psi.art.<\/p>\n

The Parallel Program to the exhibition kicks off on March 22, at 18:00, with an Artist Talk \u201cThe Body in Excess, Zombies, Cyborgs & Chimeras,\u201d by renowned Limassol-born performance artist\u00a0Stelarc<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The non-profit\u00a0PSI Foundation\u00a0<\/strong>was established in Limassol in 2024 with the mission to support and cultivate the thriving artistic landscape of Cyprus. Central to its vision is the promotion of contemporary art in dialogue with technology. Through curated exhibitions, collaborative projects, and creative sessions, the Foundation strives to challenge perceptions about the convergence of art and technology and inspire audiences to explore new realms of possibility. As part of its dedication to showcasing the rich tapestry of Cypriot art, the Foundation proudly supported the Cyprus National Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale and hosted several networking events. In 2024 PSI Foundation commissioned\u00a0Casts of an Island 2024<\/em>, an exhibition to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the division of the island of Cyprus.<\/p>\n

Another mission of the Foundation consists of preserving the historic Carob Warehouse of Limassol and envisaging its future use. The\u00a0Tekton\u00a0<\/em>exhibition presents the results of deep archival research of the building and proposes to envisage its future.<\/p>\n
