SUMMARY:Horika Ydata written and directed by Lina Nikolakopoulou - Deryneia 27.6.2025
DESCRIPTION:Lina Nikolakopoulou’s long career as a lyricist encompasses not only the world of music but the theatre also\, where she has collaborated with a number of important directors and composers on a wide range of great works from ancient dramaturgy to the modern day. \nIn Horika Ydata\, the major Greek poet and lyricist directs excerpts from theatrical works and their songs\, for which she has also written linking texts. The production weaves a colourful tapestry of comedy and drama\, focussing on timeless themes that shape human nature\, fate and deeds. \nMany of the songs written for theatre have taken on a life of their own\, becoming popular without audiences knowing that they originated in the theatre. In Horika Ydata\, they return to their original home: the stage. Starting with Lysistrata (1986) and then The Trojan Women\, Plutus\, The Knights\, Oedipus\, The Sixth Floor\, Wild Honey\, and The Little Slave\, Lina Nikolakopoulou accentuates how the Choric art – a combination of poetry\, music and dance – plays a crucial role in shaping performance. Songs\, both familiar and less well-known\, each with a theatrical story to tell\, come together in a captivating production that engages the audience on a deeply emotional level. \nJoining Lina Nikolakopoulou in her creative endeavours is a superb team of artists whose talent is an integral part in the final result: Angelos Mentis and Angelos Angeli\, designers of the set and costumes respectively; Socrates Leptos\, arranger\, conductor and music coach of the production; and Fotis Nikolaou\, responsible for movement and choreography. \nEight performers – four men and four women from three generations – bring a wide range of dramatic skills to the stage\, with their acting\, dancing and singing: the grande dame of the theatre\, Annita Santorineou\, who embodies the spirit of the legendary era of Karolos Koun\, Stella Fyrogeni\, Alexandros Bourdoumis\, Haris Pisias and Niovi Charalambous\, who have had a long and successful career in theatre\, and the younger cast members\, Christos Grozos\, Loukas Prokopiou and Maria Tsiakka. \nSix accomplished instrumentalists bring the music to life with a wonderful blend of virtuosity and flair. \nCreative Team \nText\, Direction: Lina Nikolakopoulou\nSet design: Angelos Mentis\nCostume design: Angelos Angeli\nArrangement\, Musical direction: Socrates Leptos\nChoreography\, Movement: Fotis Nikolaou\nLighting design: Georgios Koukoumas\nArtistic associate: Georgia Meshiti\nSpecial props: Stefanos Nearchou\nAssistants to the set designer and costume designer: Panayiotis Andreou\, Evanthia Demetriou \nCast:\nAnnita Santorineou Alexandros Bourdoumis\nStella Fyrogeni Haris Pisias\nNiovi Charalambous Christos Grozos\nMaria Tsiakka Loukas Prokopiou \nOn-stage musicians: Katerina Paraschou (song)\nIoannis Karseras\, Andreas Krambias\, Socrates Leptos\, Andreas Michalopoulos\,\nMarios Solomou\, Andreas Theocharous \nPerformances: \nLimassol\nKourion Ancient Amphitheatre*\nFriday 13 June 2025 (with English and Turkish surtitles) \nNicosia\nAmphitheatre Makarios III\, School for the blind\nWednesday 18 June 2025\nThursday 19 June 2025 (with Greek surtitles)\nFriday 20 June 2025 ((with English and Turkish surtitles) \nDeryneia\nMunicipal Amphitheatre\nFriday 27 June 2025 \nLarnaka\nPattichion Amphitheatre\nThursday 3 July 2025\nwithin the framework of the Larnaka Festival 2025 \nAll performances begin at 21:00 \nTicket Prices\n€20 / €10 (unemployed\, pensioners\, large families with presentation of documents\, persons under 25 years of age with presentation of ID) \n*Free transport by bus is available from Pafos to the Kourion Ancient Amphitheatre\nFor further information\, www.thoc.org.cy \nPermission to perform at Ancient Monuments is granted by the Deputy Ministry of Culture \nInformation / Tickets \nOnline at www.thoc.org.cy\nThoc Theatre box office\, tel. 77772717 (Tuesday-Saturday 10am-1.30pm & 4pm-6pm)

I first learned the technique in the UK\, and this body of work is the result of years of personal growth and experimentation.\n\n\nThese pieces reinterpret ancient Greek symbols and myths with a raw\, contemporary energy. Alongside them\, several of my older realistic paintings will also be displayed\, offering insight into the broader evolution of my artistic journey.\n\n\nThis is one of the first exhibitions of it’s kind in Cyprus and will feature a unique surprise event on opening night.\n\n\n\n\n\nOpening of the exhibition:  11 June 2025  19:30-22:00\nVisiting hours:  12-13 June 10:00-13:00 & 16:00-19:00

SUMMARY:EASTER CONCERT - ROSSINI STABAT MATER WITH CYSO - 11.4.2025
DESCRIPTION:Lemesos: Friday 11 April 2025 – Pattihio Municipal Theatre. 20:30 \nGioachino Rossini: Stabat Mater \nEleni Charalambous soprano \nMargarita Elia mezzo – soprano \nMarios Andreou tenor \nYiorgo Ioannou bass\nCyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra Choir \n(choirmaster: Loizos Loizou) \nDaniel Raiskin conductor \n  \nThe Holy Week of the Passion and the Resurrection of Christ is a time that stirs the soul with reverence and fills the heart with renewed hope. Few musical works capture these emotions as powerfully as Gioachino Rossini’s Stabat Mater – a magnificent sacred work for chorus\, soloists and orchestra\, evoking both the sorrow of human suffering and the promise of divine redemption. \nWritten in 1841\, Stabat Mater is one of Rossini’s few sacred compositions\, yet it stands as a masterpiece of its kind. Inspired by the 13th-century hymn meditating on the sorrow of the Virgin Mary at the foot of the cross\, Rossini’s setting masterfully balances operatic drama with profound religious devotion. The work’s rich choral passages\, lyrical solos\, and intricate orchestration combine to create a powerful meditation on grief\, faith\, and salvation. \nCo-produced by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation and Papadopoulos & Schinis Productions \nTicket prices: \nΖone A: €25    Zone B: €23 \nZone C: €20    Zone D: €17 \n  \nTicket presales: Online at ticketmaster.cy and at all ACS courier stores (tel. 77777040) \nInformation: Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation: 22 463144\, www.cyso.org.cy\, PAPADOPOULOS & SCHINIS PRODUCTIONS LTD: 25 372855\, www.psproductions.com.cy \n

SUMMARY:SPRING EASTER CONCERT - 10.4.2025
DESCRIPTION:A Musical Journey from the Crucifixion to the Resurrection \nThursday\, April 10 – St. Catherine’s Catholic Church\, Limassol \nEaster is a time of deep religious devotion and inner contemplation\, as the Divine Passion is rekindled in our hearts. The journey from the Crucifixion to the Resurrection is reflected not only in sacred rituals and timeless traditions but also through art\, with music holding a central role. Guided by this philosophy\, the Easter Concerts aim to offer audiences a unique musical experience\, filled with emotion and spirituality. \nThe program focuses on the power of the human voice\, as expressed through the great vocal works of the European musical tradition. Words and music intertwine in a seamless harmony of emotions – love\, sorrow\, lamentation\, and faith – mirroring the dramatic passage from the Crucifixion to the Resurrection. The artists have selected a repertoire of universal appeal\, performed in multiple languages – Latin\, English\, Czech\, Italian\, Spanish\, and Greek – featuring hymns\, songs\, arias\, piano works\, and excerpts from renowned requiems and oratorios. \nAt the heart of the program is Ave Maria\, the timeless prayer to the Virgin Mary\, presented through the evocative melodies of Franz Schubert\, Giuseppe Verdi\, and William Gomez. \nThe concerts are organized by Ms. Antonella Mantovani\, Representative of the Latin Catholic Community in the House of Representatives\, under the auspices of H.E. Monsignor Bruno Varriano\, Bishop Patriarchal Vicar of Cyprus\, with the support of the Deputy Ministry of Culture. \nThree distinguished musicians bring the artistic program to life: \nZoe Nicolaidou – Soprano \nAndreas Aroditis -Tenor \nZbynek Maruska – Pianist \n
