DESCRIPTION:Kannavia – Agia Eirini | 24 & 25 October 2026 \nPeople • Nature • Tradition • A Shared Future \nThe 1st Hunting and Habitats Festival\, taking place on 24 and 25 October 2026 in the beautiful mountain villages of Kannavia and Agia Eirini\, is a unique initiative dedicated to nature\, hunting traditions\, wildlife habitat conservation\, and the promotion of Cyprus’s rich cultural heritage. \nThe Festival is organised by the Communities of Kannavia and Agia Eirini\, in collaboration with the Hunting Association of Kannavia and Agia Eirini “Ta Laonia” and AEK Kannavion\, under the auspices of the Minister of the Interior. \nAt the heart of the Festival lies the vision of promoting harmony between people and the natural environment\, raising environmental awareness\, and preserving the traditions that connect local communities with their land\, history\, and cultural identity. \nThrough a diverse programme of educational\, cultural\, recreational\, and interactive activities\, the Festival aims to bring together hunters\, nature enthusiasts\, families\, children\, and everyone who appreciates the beauty and heritage of the Cypriot countryside. \nSpecial emphasis is placed on wildlife protection and habitat conservation\, with the participation of the Department of Forests and the Cyprus Federation of Hunting and Wildlife Conservation. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about biodiversity\, the importance of protecting natural ecosystems\, and responsible wildlife management. \nIn addition\, organised nature walks will invite participants to explore the breathtaking mountain landscapes\, discover the natural beauty of the surrounding area\, and experience the close connection between the local communities and their environment. \nTradition and cultural heritage are equally important elements of the Festival. Through interactive workshops demonstrating traditional halloumi cheese-making\, zivania production\, and bread baking\, as well as exhibitions of local products\, traditional music\, folk dances\, and cultural performances\, visitors will experience authentic aspects of Cypriot rural life. \nA special place in the programme is reserved for children and families\, with creative games\, educational presentations\, a small petting zoo featuring friendly farm animals\, and activities designed to inspire younger generations to appreciate nature\, tradition\, and community spirit. \nThe Festival programme also includes hunting equipment exhibitions\, shooting competition award ceremonies\, documentary screenings\, archery demonstrations\, and a wide range of activities combining education with entertainment. \nBeyond its festive character\, the event seeks to make a meaningful contribution to strengthening local communities and promoting the mountain villages of Cyprus. DESCRIPTION: Festival main day: 24/10/2026 (Heritage Private School\, Limassol) \nOpen Sports Festival 2026: rugby and chess make their debut at Cyprus’ largest corporate sports festival \nOn 24 October 2026\, Heritage Private School in Limassol turns into a sports ground for a day\, as hundreds of employees from leading companies in Cyprus and abroad take to the pitches in their company colours. \nOpen Sports Festival 2026 runs for the sixth consecutive year and is the largest corporate sports festival in Cyprus. It features 18 sports and activities and brings together more than 60 organisations. Entry is free for spectators\, families and children. \nNew games for 2026: rugby and chess \nThis year the programme opens up in two directions it has never tried before. \nRugby joins the main-day programme for the first time on 24 October 2026\, in cooperation with the Cyprus Rugby Federation. Few sports show so clearly what a team is: the ball only travels backwards\, so to move forward someone else has to run for you. The match format has been adapted so that teams with no prior experience can play\, with coaching from the Federation on the day. \nA week earlier\, on 17 October 2026\, the Open Sports Festival Chess Tournament by Alber Blanc takes place at City of Dreams Mediterranean. Chess brings an entirely different kind of intensity to the festival: no shouting\, no whistle\, just the clock and the next move. The tournament is open to all levels\, from complete beginners to experienced players. \nSix years\, 60+ companies\, 2\,500+ people \nOpen Sports Festival began as a single day of matches between companies. Six years on\, it is one of the few places in Cyprus where teams from Forex\, IT\, financial services\, shipping\, marketing\, hospitality and energy meet outside the office. More than 2\,500 professionals\, families and friends have taken part. \n18 sports for every level \nThe 2026 programme includes 18 categories of sports and activities\, from football\, volleyball\, 3on3 basketball\, rugby and tug of war\, through to backgammon\, chess and FIFA PlayStation. \nA Kids Corner\, DJs\, street food and a bar with ice-cold drinks keep the day interesting for those who are not playing. DESCRIPTION:Five years after its Cyprus debut\, Quatuor Diotima returns to Nicosia on the occasion of its 30th anniversary! One of France’s most renowned string quartets and one of the most sought-after chamber ensembles on the international stage today\, Diotima has occupied a distinctive place at the highest level of European chamber music\, boasting a repertoire that ranges from the great masterpieces of the 19th century to the some of the most important music being written today. Quatuor Diotima is a regular presence at many of the world’s foremost venues\, including Wigmore Hall\, Pierre Boulez Saal\, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg\, Philharmonie de Paris\, and its extensive and highly acclaimed discography has received major critical distinctions\, including multiple Diapason d’Or awards\, a German Record Critics’ Award\, and the European Cultural Heritage Award from the French Ministry of Culture.  \nFor their concert in Cyprus\, on Friday 30 October 2026 at The Shoe Factory\, Nicosia\, Quatuor Diotima will present an intense\, searching and deeply expressive programme\, pairing masterpieces by Beethoven and Brahms with Georges Aperghis’s strikingly original String Quartet No.2\, which was commissioned by Radio France and given its world premiere by Diotima at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées a few months ago. Shedding new light on romantic or more contemporary masterworks\, particularly in Beethoven\, Schubert\, Janáček\, Debussy\, Ravel and Bartók\, as well as the Second Viennese School\, the Quartet also regularly commissions new works from the most brilliant composers of our time\, including Tristan Murail\, Rebecca Saunders\, Toshio Hosokawa\, Gérard Pesson. \nQuatuor Diotima appears regularly in the world’s greatest halls and concert series such as Konserthuset Stockholm\, Wigmore Hall London\, Pierre Boulez Saal Berlin\, Concertgebouw Brugge\, Muziekgebouw Amsterdam\, Bozar Brüssel\, String Quartet Biennale Philharmonie de Paris\, Wigmore Hall\, Pierre Boulez Saal Elbphilharmonie Hamburg\, Brucknerfest Linz\, Liederhalle Stuttgart. Current and forthcoming engagements include extensive tours across Europe\, the United States and Asia\, as well as concerts at the Philharmonie Essen\, the Wien Modern and IRCAM Manifeste festivals\, Gaida Festival Vilnius\, Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo\, Santa Fe Music Festival and La Jolla Music Festival. \nSince 2021\, Quatuor Diotima finds a new base of operations in the Grand Est region of France – a residency that allows the Quartet to develop its Academy in collaboration with the Cité Musicale de Metz.
