SUMMARY:Ioannis Vafeas Quartet
DESCRIPTION:The Ioannis Vafeas Quartet is back to Technopolis 20 garden\, with some jazz classics from the Great American Song Book as well as some compositions of the post-bop era\, on Friday\, 11th of June 2021 at 8pm. The band will also perform music from their latest album\, Catharsis released in 2020.\n	 \n	Some new faces and excellent musicians will be appearing with the band from now on and that is Ermis Michael on guitar and Andreas Panteli on piano\, graduates of the Codarts University for the Arts\, who perfectly combine this background and their experience with the steady rhythm section of Michael Messios (double bass) and Ioannis Vafeas (drums)\, who have a long background together characterized by superb musicianship and creativity\, both graduates of the Berklee College of Music in Boston. SUMMARY:Sounds of Winds - CySO
DESCRIPTION:SOUNDS OF WINDS \n\n	A programme dedicated purely to music for wind instruments\, under the baton of conductor Zoi Tsokanou and CySO’s principal trumpetist Gareth Griffiths as the soloist. The concert presents a fine selection of three pieces composed between 1878 and 1974 featuring characteristic sound colours from the composers’ countries of origin: AntonínDvořák (Bohemia)\,Gordon Jacob (England) and Jean Francaix (France). \n\n	Dvořák’sSerenade for wind instruments in D minor (1878) is a magnificent work whose composition was sparked by a fascination of the Czech composer with one of Mozart’s wind serenades. DESCRIPTION:The Steppin’ Out Jazz Band honors singer Nancy Wilson\, the ‘Song Stylist’ as she liked to be known\, in this tribute featuring a selection of her songs\, artfully interwoven with captivating details about her life and music. From her early collaborations with George Shearing and Cannonball Adderley to her biggest hits\, enjoy the best of Nancy Wilson as interpreted by one of the most well-established Jazz bands in Cyprus!\n	 \n	Nancy Wilson was an American singer whose career spanned over five decades. She recorded more than 70 albums and won three Grammy Awards for her work. During her performing career Wilson was labeled a singer of blues\, jazz\, R&B\, pop\, and soul\, a “consummate actress”\, and “the complete entertainer”. SUMMARY:Charlie Parker with Strings - CySO
DESCRIPTION:CHARLIE PARKER WITH STRINGS \n\n	 Αtribute to the jazz legend Charlie Parker and specifically to his 1949-50 recordings for jazz quartet accompanied by a string section\, oboe\, harp and sometimes French horn\, titled “Bird with strings”. This legendary recording created a new vogue for jazz soloists to incorporate a string ensemble into their standard jazz section\, a trend still in fashion in our days. Charlie Parker\, also known as “Bird”\, intended to play with strings as early as 1941 as he was always searching for new colours in his music-making. The Charis Ioannou Quartet along with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra pay homage to this repertoire that sounds fascinating and colourful. \n\n	The programme opens with the world premiere of the piece Modus Vivendi\, in jazz fusion style\, written by our own Robert Hovanesyan\, 2nd violin tutti\, and also talented composer with a special flair for jazz.
