SUMMARY:Chamber Music 2 - TRIO MILONGUERO Argentinian Tango - 8.11.2025
DESCRIPTION:Trio Milongero was formed in 2024 by three distinguished Cypriot musicians: Nicos Ioannou – principal double bass of the CySO\, guitarist Vasileios Avraam and accordionist Fotis Mousoulidis.  Globally\, it is perhaps the second ensemble with this combination of instruments\, which makes it unique and fascinating in terms of the timbres mixture. \nThe Trio will present works by the Argentinian composer Máximo Diego Pujol\, in which he combines traditional tango with classical and contemporary elements. Influenced by Astor Piazzolla\, his music is characterized by strong melodies\, tempo and rhythm alternations\, and a particularly expressive use of the guitar and the bandoneon (accordion)\, thus conveying the passion and melancholy of the Argentinian tango. \nPujol’s works also incorporate elements of the milonga and the waltz\, whilst maintaining the dance and narrative character of the music of Buenos Aires. \nTrio Milonguero’s programme features stunning pieces such as ‘Gris de madrugada’\, ‘Maria Rosario’\, ‘Tangazo a medianoche’ and ‘Estacion Retiro’\, among others. \nVasileios Avraam guitar \nFotis Mousoulidis accordion \nNicos Ioannou double bass \nrs. \nSupporter: Larnaka Municipality \nTicket price: €12 / €7 (concession) \nConcession tickets are available to: \nStudents\, soldiers\, pensioners\, large and five-member families on presentation of ID. \nFree Entrance for people with disabilities. \nTicket presales: \nLarnaka Municipal Theatre G. SUMMARY:CYPRUS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA - PREMIERE 3 - 19.11.2025
DESCRIPTION:Lefkosia: Wednesday 19 November 2025 – Pallas Theatre\, Pafos Gate\, 20:30 \nDescribed as “one of the most versatile conductors of our time\,” Paul Goodwin is an internationally renowned expert in historically informed performance. Passionate about bringing deep period-style insight to modern orchestras\, he leads the CySO in a vibrant programme of works by the Bach family and Haydn. \nΤhe concert features three highly distinguished musicians of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra as soloists. Violinist Sorin Alexandru Horlea will perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s brilliant Violin concerto in E major\, BWV 1042 — a vibrant and virtuosic work shaped by Italian influences\, particularly the style of Vivaldi. CySO principal oboist Simeon Spasov together with violinist Constantinos Anastasiades will interpret Bach’s expressive Double concerto for oboe and Violin in D minor\, BWV 1060\, which develops a richly rewarding musical dialogue between the two soloists. \nThe concert will open with Johann Christian Bach’s Symphony in G minor\, op. 6\, no. 6 — a striking work of emotional depth and drama\, infused with the Sturm und Drang style\, and highlighting his pivotal role as a bridge between the Baroque and Classical eras. \nThe evening will conclude with Joseph Haydn’s Symphony no. 82 in C major\, nicknamed ‘The Bear’.
