It consists of 13 delightful pieces\, whereby a variety of animals come to life in a richly imaginative and humorous manner\, such as the lion\, the swan\, birds\, chicken\, donkeys\, as well as some humans! The solo piano parts will be performed by young pianists from the Music Schools of Cyprus. DESCRIPTION:Lefkosia: Thursday 13 February 2025 – Pallas Theatre\, Pafos Gate\, 20:30 \nMusical composition in Cyprus is thriving\, thanks to a bursting array of Cypriot composers bringing a fresh\, imaginative perspective to contemporary musical creation on the island. \nUnder the baton of the rising Cypriot conductor Kyriaki Kountouri\, the concert “Cyprophonia 3” will offer audiences a glimpse into the country’s vibrant musical creation\, highlighting the works of four Cypriot composers. \nSavvas Savva’s Concerto for piano no. 3 has been commissioned by the CySO Foundation and will receive its world premiere with the amazing Cypriot pianist Rami Sadieddine as the soloist – an artist who regularly champions contemporary works. The audience will also have the opportunity to hear the world premieres of ‘Physeos Kelados’ by George Hadjimarkou and ‘Coastal Land’ by Nicos Vichas\, as well as the Phanos Dymiotis’ Divertimento. DESCRIPTION:Family Concerts 2: \nFREAKADELLA\, THE WITCH WHO HATED CHRISTMAS CAROLS \nLefkosia: Wednesday 18 December 2024 – Strovolos Municipal Theatre\, 18:00 \nSoundtrack and narration of the story by Evgenios Trivizas – Cyprus premiere \nActor Petros Georkadjis performs the role of the witch (in Greek)\nRea Olympiou costume designer\nΣymhpoΠedia and Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra Choirs (choirmaster Loizos Loizou)\nAlkis Baltas conductor\, selection of classical music\, original compositions\, arrangements/orchestrations \nΤhe Cyprus Symphony Orchestra\, the ΣymhpoΠedia and Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra Choirs\, and the actor Petros Georkadjis will present the Cyprus premiere of this production whereby the popular\, witty Christmas story by Evgenios Trivizas is brought to life through music and narration\, under the direction of the CySO honourary conductor and composer\, Alkis Baltas. \nThis will be a fresh production with an emphasis on theatricality\, in order to best bring out the action and humour of the story. The actor Petros Georkadjis plays the role of a present-day witch\, whose costume was specially designed for this production by Rea Olympiou. \nThe soundtrack that accompanies the narration consists of excerpts from various classical works by Mussorgsky\, Borodin\, Mozart\, Mendelssohn\, and other composers\, as well as brief new compositions by Alkis Baltas\, who took various Greek carols (Crete\, Corfu\, Macedonia\, Cyprus) and arranged them for chorus and orchestra. \nA tale full of magic spells\, adventure and an unexpected metamorphosis that will warm everyone’s hearts. \nAnd the story goes like this… \nThe witch Freakadella hates everything that is good…. especially… Christmas carols! When children sing them at Christmastime she gets furious and turns them into frogs\, ducklings\, kittens and other animals. Still\, even in their new form\, children keep on singing the Carols. After various adventures\, the children manage to change Freakadella’s mind and heart… \nThe concerts are held in collaboration with Radiomarathon\nIt is with special honour that the CySO Foundation collaborates for these concerts with Radiomarathon.
