DESCRIPTION:Lefkosia: Thursday 13 February 2025 – Pallas Theatre\, Pafos Gate\, 20:30 \nMusical composition in Cyprus is thriving\, thanks to a bursting array of Cypriot composers bringing a fresh\, imaginative perspective to contemporary musical creation on the island. \nUnder the baton of the rising Cypriot conductor Kyriaki Kountouri\, the concert “Cyprophonia 3” will offer audiences a glimpse into the country’s vibrant musical creation\, highlighting the works of four Cypriot composers. \nSavvas Savva’s Concerto for piano no. 3 has been commissioned by the CySO Foundation and will receive its world premiere with the amazing Cypriot pianist Rami Sadieddine as the soloist – an artist who regularly champions contemporary works. The audience will also have the opportunity to hear the world premieres of ‘Physeos Kelados’ by George Hadjimarkou and ‘Coastal Land’ by Nicos Vichas\, as well as the Phanos Dymiotis’ Divertimento. Founded in 2023\, the Quartet quickly established itself as one of the leading ensembles on the island. DESCRIPTION:“Prometheas” String Quartet is made up of four young renowned and highly distinguished Cypriot artists: Nikos Pittas\, violin\, Iraklis Mitellas\, violin\, Miranda Papaneocleous\, cello – members of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra – and Nicolas Papageorgio\, viola – frequent collaborator with the Orchestra. \n‘Winter Dreams’ is one of their four projects focusing on the four seasons. In this programme they will take us on a dreamlike journey into the colours\, moods and sensations of Winter\, starting from Antonio Vivaldi’s ‘Winter’ concerto and ending with Astor Piazzolla’s ‘Winter’ (Invierno porteno)\, whilst ‘travelling’ through popular works by Mozart\, Dvořák\, Brahms\, Rachmaninov\, Granados\, Sibelius\, Ravel\, Anderson\, Phanos Dymiotis and Hadjidakis! \nTo give you a glimpse\, these include Brahms’ Hungarian Dance no. 1\, Rachmaninov’s Vocalise\, Spanish Dance no. 5 by Granados and Sibelius’ Valse triste\, arranged for string quartet. Most notably\, in January 2024 he conducted a world premiere in a side-by-side concert with the BBC Philharmonic and RNCM students\, recorded for BBC Radio 3.\n	 \n	Previously\, he studied Orchestral Conducting with Miltos Logiadis at the Ionian University\, graduating at the top of his class. While in Corfu\, he served as assistant conductor to Alkis Baltas at the Philharmonic Society of Corfu Symphony Orchestra\, and created a youth orchestra at the Ionian Conservatory focusing on film music.
