SUMMARY:«Fainting»
DESCRIPTION:The Fainting performance consists of two famous one-act comedies by Russian playwright Chekhov\, the Marriage Proposal and the Bear. Written in 1888-1889\, the plays have been perfomed to theatrical stages scenes many times worldwide. But they keep their comic scourge unabated\, since they are based on physical humor – as the title of our show shows – in quick and smart dialogs\, and in recognizable situations and characters: The daughter of marriage age and the incumbent aspiring son-in-law who cannot agree on the boundaries of a field – or anything else (guarantee of marital happiness!)\, and the unscrupulous captain with the debilitating widow who disagree to the extremes about the repayment of a debt – but always with a happy ending.\n	The creative team approaches the two plays in a playful mood to entertain the public\, to recommend works of great literary value to them\, and to fuel the timely/timeless source of their comedy: the arrogance of characters\, the lack of knowledge about themselves\, and social hypocrisy.\n	These figures show Chekhov’s aristotechnical pen that\, at the age of 28\, wrote works that have remained on the map of literature and theater for over 130 years. The Marriage Proposal and Bear are classic texts for this and they’re “speaking” in today with the same freshness that they were speaking to the audience when they were first wrıtten. \n	Venue:\n	THEATRE ANTILOGOS\n	Phone number: +357 99251331\n	Social media: TheatroAntilogosfacebook/instagram \n	Start date/End date:   1/07/2021 – 27/08/2021  \n	Start time/End time: 20:00 – 21:15\n	 \n\n	Entrance: FREE \n	  \nOrganiser Contact Details \nName: Antilogos theatre Company\nTelephone: 99 251331\nEmail: theatroantilogos@yahoo.com\nPostal Address:

SUMMARY:«Agamemnon» by Aeschylus
DESCRIPTION:Aeschylus’ Agamemnon (458 BCE)\, THOC’s first ever staged production in 1971\, is revived this summer as part of the celebrations marking the Organisation’s 50th anniversary. The tragedy\, directed by Lea Maleni\, is the first drama of the Oresteia\, Aeschylus’ only extant trilogy. Deeply political at its core\, Agamemnon limns the traces inscribed upon the fate of man by a regime where violence begets violence. \n	The stage is set in front of the palace of the Atrides\, in Argos\, where King Agamemnon returns after the end of the Trojan War\, with Cassandra\, King Priam’s daughter\, as a trophy by his side. Clytemnestra will initially welcome him as befits a king\, while playing hostess to the foreign woman. Behind this façade lurks a well-devised plan of revenge that culminates when Clytemnestra murders Agamemnon\, abetted by her lover\, Aegisthus. \n	The Aeschylian trilogy opens with an abominable act to raise the first poignant\, well-timed questions of justice and democracy. Lea Maleni probes into the essence of the play with an accomplished team of actors and associates by her side\, as she sets out to touch upon an enduring desideratum in a world of powers and counterpowers that has never given up the strive for equilibrium.\n	  \n	Venues:\n	Lefkosia: Makarios III Amphitheatre\n	Dates:\n	Friday 16 July 2021\n	Saturday 17 July 2021\n	Wednesday 21 July 2021\n	Thursday 22 July 2021 (greek surtitles)\n	Friday 23 July 2021 (english and turkish surtitles) \n	Larnaka: Pattichion Municipal Amphitheatre\n	Date:\n	Wednesday 28 July 2021 (within the framework of Larnaka Festival) \n	Deryneia: Municipal Amphitheatre\n	Date:\n	Friday 30 July 2021 \n	Lemesos: Kourion Ancient Amphitheatre\n	Dates:\n	Wednesday 4 August 2021\n	Thursday 5 August 2021\n	Friday 6 August 2021 (english and turkish surtitles) \n	Star tdate/End date: 16 July – 6 August 2021\n	Start time/End time: 21:00 – 23:00   \n	Entrance Price/Τicket:  \n	€17 / €8 (unemployed persons\, pensioners with relevant documentation\, large-families\, persons under 25 years of age providing their national identification card) \n	Website: www.thoc.org.cy \n	Social Media Channels of Event and/or of Event Organiser\n	(e.g. Facebook\, Instagram etc.):\n	Facebook: ΘΟΚ/THOC\n	Instagram: th.o.c\n	Twitter: THOC \n	  \n \n\n	  \nOrganiser Contact Details \nName: Cyprus Theatre Organisation \nTelephone: 22864300 \nEmail: info@thoc.org.cy \nPostal Address: 9 Grogori Afxentiou stre.\, 1096 Lefkosia\, Cyprus
