SUMMARY:«Esmé» by Spyros Peresiades
DESCRIPTION:In a village of the Kalavryta district\, near the Monastery of Agia Lavra\, on the cusp of the 1821 Greek Revolution\, two youths\, Drosos and Esmé\, take an oath of love. Their ancestry undermines their oath: Drosos is Greek and Esmé is Turkish. Their love\, faced with strong resistance from their families\, will be put to the test. \n	This dramatic idyll by Spyros Peresiades\, the playwright of the renowned Golfo\, crafted in the demotic language across fifteen-syllable verses\, brings out the power of true love that stands tall in the face of all the hurdles. \n	Marina Vronti and her associates put on view the emotion\, sense of humour and idiomorphic poetic language of a play identified with the Greek tradition in this contemporary revival of a story that relays the timeless message of love. \n	The production\, linked to the 200th anniversary of the Greek War of Independence\, will tour Cyprus during the summer. It has also been invited to a staging in Athens in the context of the Athens-Epidaurus Festival\, on the 23 and 24 of July 2021. \n	Venues:\n	Lefkosia: Makarios III Amphitheatre\n	Dates:\n	Thursday 24 June 2021\n	Friday 25 June 2021 (greek surtitles)\n	Saturday 26 June 2021 (english and turkish surtitles)\n	Saturday 31 July 2021\n	Tuesday 3 August 2021\n	Wednesday 4 August 2021 \n	Deryneia: Municipal Amphitheatre\n	Dates:\n	Friday 2 July 2021\n	Saturday 3 July 2021 \n	Lemesos: Κourion Ancient Amphitheatre\n	Dates:\n	Thursday 8 July 2021\n	Friday 9 July 2021\n	Saturday 10 July 2021 (english and turkish surtitles) \n	Larnaka: Pattichion Municipal Amphitheatre\n	Date:\n	Wednesday 14 July 2021 (within the framework of Larnaka Festival) \n	Athens Epidaurus Festival\n	Pireos 260 (D)\n	Friday 23 July 2021\n	Saturday 24 July 2021\n	  \n	Star tdate/End date: 24 June – 4 August 2021\n	Start time/End time: 21:00 – 22:30     \n\n	Entrance Price/Τicket:  \n	€12 / €6 (unemployed persons\, pensioners with relevant documentation\, large-families\, persons under 25 years of age providing their national identification card) \n	Website: www.thoc.org.cy \n	Social Media Channels of Event and/or of Event Organiser\n	(e.g. Facebook\, Instagram etc.):\n	Facebook: ΘΟΚ/THOC\n	Instagram: th.o.c\n	Twitter: THOC \n	  \n \n\n	  \nOrganiser Contact Details \nName: Cyprus Theatre Organisation \nTelephone: 22864300 \nEmail: info@thoc.org.cy \nPostal Address: 9 Grogori Afxentiou stre.\, 1096 Lefkosia\, Cyprus
