SUMMARY:Exhibition FIVE
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Antiquities\, Ministry of Transport\, Communications and Works\, announces the opening of the temporary exhibition FIVE.\n\n		 \n\n		What was it like living in Cyprus in ancient times? What were the people like\, what did they do for a living\, what did they eat\, did they have hobbies\, did they play games or have time for leisure? FIVE adopts an anthropocentric approach allowing us to come “face to face” with the stories of people from the past.\n		 \n\n		The exhibition introduces scientific bioarchaeological information translated into narratives that (re)create moments of the life of: the man from Souskiou\, the diadem child from Dromolaxia-Vyzakia\, the man from Idalion\, the woman from Omodos and the woman from Lefkosia (Antigonou street). Their embodied experiences are presented by means of creative storytelling\, incorporating technology\, sound\, visuals\, archaeological findings and site interpretation in order to make archaeological knowledge more accessible\, urging us to review the ways we think and learn about the past. Α separate space annexed to the main exhibition walks us through the basic principles of bioarchaeology\, the study of ancient human remains and the information that can be acquired from them regarding the lives of ancient individuals.\n		 \n\n		The exhibition FIVE is organised by the Department of Antiquities within the framework of the Face to Face: Meet an Ancient Cypriot (FF:MAC) project\, coordinated by The Cyprus Institute and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus through the Research and Innovation Foundation (grant no. INTEGRATED/0609/0029). SUMMARY:Pasta Flavors
DESCRIPTION:The Pasta Event ¨PASTA FLAVORS¨ has been organized during the last years as part of the\n¨Art and Culture Festival¨ of Agios Theodoros Larnakas.\n \nThe Festival lasts three days and includes:\nFirst day: It is dedicated to the Cypriot Tradition\, emphasis is placed on tasting of\ntraditional products.\nSecond day: Concert by popular Greek singers\nThird day: Theater by the “Pentaschino” folklore group of our community.\n \nThe women of the community work voluntarily for the pasta event. They make the traditional pasta: “Makaronia tou Sklinitziou” or “Makaronia tis Smilas” are a type of dried pasta made by mixing durum wheat flour with a little salt and water\, and/or by mixing another type of flour with semolina\, salt and water. Olive oil may also be used in the preparation of the product. Τhe “Makaronia tou Sklinitziou” or “Makaronia tis Smilas” are registration of a name by European Parliament and of the Council on quality schemes for agricultural products and foodstuffs in 2022.\n \nThe event includes:\nHomemade Pasta Demonstration and Tasting: The visitor has the opportunity to make and taste this traditional pasta. Also\, visitors can taste traditional yeast bread or buy traditional Cypriot products.\nVegan Food Demonstration and Tasting\nTraditional Cypriot Dances by “Pentaschinos” Folklore Club\nTraditional Cypriot Music and Songs by Michalis Chatzimichail\, Antri Karantoni\, Demetra\nChatzimichail and Irene Pelagia.
