SUMMARY:“Nachtland” by Marius von Mayenburg - 1.11-14.12.2024
DESCRIPTION:THOC New Stage: “Nachtland” by Marius von Mayenburg\, directed by Athina Xenidou\nFrom November 1st\, 2024 \nRehearsals for the premiere of “Nachtland”\, a play by Marius von Mayenburg\, are in full swing. The production will be presented at the New Stage of THOC starting from November 1st\, 2024. \nWritten in 2022\, Nachtland is a witty and provocative comedy. It offers a daring commentary on the gray areas of the past\, our roots and legacies\, the manipulation of history\, and the intersection of art and money. How do we manage the past? Can a work of art be separated from the life of its creator? \nThe story follows two siblings who\, after the recent death of their father\, reunite in their family home to resolve various matters. While sorting through their inheritance\, they discover a watercolor painting in the attic. This unexpected discovery raises moral dilemmas and leads to precarious conclusions and ambiguous decisions. The narrative unfolds around this painting and its possible creator. Is the signature A. Hiller or A. Hitler? The painting opens up conflicts\, forcing the family to confront both their own dark sides and the shadow cast by Nazism and the Holocaust on recent German history. \nCreative Team: \n\nDirector: Athina Xenidou\nTranslator: Konstantinos Kritsis\nSet and Costume Design: Stavros Antonopoulos\nMusic and Sound Design: Andis Skordis\nVideo Projection Design: Anna Fotiadou\nLighting Design: Georgios Koukoumas\nIntimacy Coordination: Elle McAlpine\nAssistant Director: Andreani Constanti\n\nCast: \n\nChristos Grozos\nElena Kallinikou\nKristi Papadopoulou\nAlexandros Parisis\nChristina Pavlidou\n\n  \nPERFORMANCE SCHEDULE: \nFirst Performance: November 1st\nAnd every Friday (20:00)\, Saturday (20:00)\, and Sunday (18:00) until December 1st\, 2024. \nOfficial Premiere: November 9th\, 2024\nFriday\, November 15th\, 2024: (Y) With English and Turkish surtitles\nSaturday\, November 16th\, 2024: (YE) With Greek surtitles \n  \nTOUR DATES \nStart Time for Tours: 20:30 \nLarnaca Municipal Theater G. SUMMARY:Repetitive Acts The Power of Weaving and Textile in Contemporary Art - 6.12.2024-26.4.2025
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Repetitice Acts: The power of weaving and textile in contemporary art” explores the enduring power of weaving as a medium of communication\, storytelling\, and resistance. From ancient Peruvian textiles to contemporary Afghan “War Rugs”\, textiles have served as a silent yet eloquent transmitter of meaning and memory. This exhibition brings weaving’s legacy into the present\, showing how contemporary artists from Cyprus transcend its domestic associations to become a space for political\, cultural\, and personal expression. The act of making\, the repetitive patterns\, and the ritual of repetition in the process are all equally significant. \nVisiting Hours: \nWednesday – Saturday: 10:00 – 20:00 \nSunday: 10:00 – 18:00 \nMonday & Tuesday: Closed \n

SUMMARY:3rd International Coastal Rowing Beach Sprints LNC Competition - 4-6.4.2025
DESCRIPTION:A Beach Sprint Coastal rowing race\, is an exciting and dynamic rowing race that takes place in the sea near a beach. Unlike traditional rowing races that take place in calm waters\, coastal rowing races add an extra level of excitement by wading through waves\, currents and potentially rough weather.\nHere is a description of what such a race might entail: \n**Location:**\nThe race is usually run along a scenic coastline\, incorporating the natural elements of the open sea. The start and finish points are located on the beach and rowers launch their boats directly from the shore. \n** Boats:**\nCoastal rowing boats are designed to handle the unpredictable nature of the sea. These boats are sturdier than their calm water counterparts\, often featuring wider hulls\, reinforced construction and greater stability \n**What does Beach Sprints mean?**\nThe race starts from the beach\, 30-50 meters away from where the wave breaks. The rowers (two athletes at a time) start from the beach sprinting\, enter the boat and row between buoys for 250 meters\, make the final turn (360 degrees)\, return to the beach and sprint out of the boat to finish before from their teammate who has done exactly the same course on parallel buoys. \n**Challenges:**\nRowers face challenges such as changing winds and potentially choppy waters\, making the race both physically demanding and mentally engaging. Adaptability to ever-changing coastal conditions becomes a critical aspect of success.\nIn other words\, a sprint race on the beach combines the athleticism and teamwork of traditional rowing with the unpredictable and exciting elements of coastal waters\, creating an exciting and visually captivating sporting event.
