SUMMARY:Repetitive Acts The Power of Weaving and Textile in Contemporary Art - 6.12.2024-26.4.2025
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Repetitice Acts: The power of weaving and textile in contemporary art” explores the enduring power of weaving as a medium of communication\, storytelling\, and resistance. From ancient Peruvian textiles to contemporary Afghan “War Rugs”\, textiles have served as a silent yet eloquent transmitter of meaning and memory. This exhibition brings weaving’s legacy into the present\, showing how contemporary artists from Cyprus transcend its domestic associations to become a space for political\, cultural\, and personal expression. The act of making\, the repetitive patterns\, and the ritual of repetition in the process are all equally significant. \nVisiting Hours: \nWednesday – Saturday: 10:00 – 20:00 \nSunday: 10:00 – 18:00 \nMonday & Tuesday: Closed \n

SUMMARY:UNSEEN GAZE: The highly anticipated exhibition at Apothikes Papadaki - 24.1-10.3.2025
DESCRIPTION:It is with great pleasure to invite you at the opening of the exhibition “Unseen Gaze” which will be held by the Mayor of Limassol\, Mr Yiannis Armeftis\, tommorrow Friday 24th of January 2025 at 18:30 in the venue of the Limassol Municipal Arts Centre – Apothikes Papadaki. \nWe will be very happy to welcome you! \nPlease find below attached all information and the newsletter by the Lemesos 2030 organization. \nLemesos 2030 and the Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Laboratories (APAC Labs) of the Cyprus Institute present the exhibition “Unseen Gaze – The Hidden Portrait under Titian’s ECCE HOMO”\, to be inaugurated by the Mayor of Limassol\, Mr Yiannis Armeftis\, on 24 January 2025\, at 18:30\, at Apothikes Papadaki. \nThe exhibition unveils a hidden work by Titian\, concealed beneath the famous painting Ecce Homo (1570). This discovery was made possible through advanced technology and scientific methods pioneered by the Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Laboratories (APAC Labs). The hidden artwork\, the portrait of a man\, was revealed using cutting-edge technology\, whereas the results of this process were utilised by visual artist and rector of the Athens School of Fine Arts\, Erato Hadjisavva\, to recreate the painting. This groundbreaking method highlighted the intrinsic connection between art and science\, paving the way for new artistic approaches. \nCultural heritage\, science\, technology\, and contemporary artistic practices converge in the Unseen Gaze exhibition: a rare opportunity for visitors to delve into the technical analysis of the painting\, understand the relationship between the original work and its modern recreation (1570 & 2024)\, as well as to witness how technology can unveil artistic secrets hidden for centuries. \nDetails: \n\nEvent: Unseen Gaze – The Hidden Portrait under Titian’s Ecce Homo\nLocation: Apothikes Papadaki\, Limassol\nDates: 24 January – 10 March 2025\nOpening: 24 January 2025\, 18:30\nOpening hours: The exhibition will be accessible during regular hours at Apothikes Papadaki throughout the duration of the event.\nOrganisers: The Cyprus Institute – Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Laboratories / STARC\, Lemesos 2030\, Limassol Municipality.\nGuided tours: Wednesday 16:30-17:30\, Friday 16:30-17:30 & Saturday 11:00-12:00 & 12:00-13:00.\n\nFor more information or to book a guided tour (for schools\, universities and organisations) please contact: \nwww.lemesos2030.com | info@lemesos2030.com | 99800050 & \nhttps://apaclabs.cyi.ac.cy/ | 22208648 | apaclabs@cyi.ac.cy \n
