\nIn the first programme of its prestigious Starlight series, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra welcomes on stage the sensational and award-winning violinist Roman Simovi\u0107, a concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra and professor at the Royal Academy of Music, London. We are also delighted to renew our collaboration with the internationally acclaimed conductor Zoi Tsokanou, to conduct a programme featuring two iconic Russian masterpieces. Dmitri Shostakovich\u2019s legendary First Violin concerto demands tremendous physical and emotional stamina from the soloist. Igor Stravinsky\u2019s ballet suiteThe <\/em>Firebird<\/em>is emblematic of early 20th<\/sup> centuryradical modernism and the first fruit of his historic collaboration with Sergei Diaghilev\u2019s Ballets Russes in Paris.
