\n\t\t\tWithin the context of the art project \u201cAkamantis | Head and Hand\u201d by Kyriaki Costa, a walking guided tour will take place in Polis Chrysochous and in the wider area of Akamas on the 25th of August.

\n\t\t\tStarting from the exhibition locations and themes of the project and stops at key observation points for the Akamantis \/ Head & Hand project, the route will follow the underground streams of the five rivers that flow into Chrysochous Bay. Through this tour, a new reading of the area emerges with central points of reference being history, myths and ecology.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t\t\tCreating new associations with the place and its stories, the tour aims to involve the community in the research process and create a network between residents and visitors that will focus on the important role of humans as members of the biotic community of the place .<\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t\t\tOur research team includes the Mayor of Polis Chrysochous Yotis Papachristofis, Folk Artist Andreas Moditis, the educator and poet Kyriaki Drakou, the historian Sofronis Lazarou, the former museum guard Mr. Andreas Symeonidis and the teacher Mr. Giorgos Georgiou.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t\t\tThe routes and discussions are based on the map designed as part of the “Akamantis | Head & Hand” and connects the exhibition spaces with the wider area and with places where water sources have been identified.<\/span><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\tAt the Marion-Arsinoe Museum the artist, inspired by the archaeological
\n\t\t\tfindings, as well as other objects that testify to the direct association of water with funeral rites and purification ceremonies, proposes a series of works – contemporary offerings to the healing and restoration of humans\u2019 relationship with the environment. Ancient aqueducts, brought to light through the exhibition and with the significant contribution of the Department of Antiquities, bear witness to the actions and interventions of humans in their efforts to make the area habitable. Alex Ioannou’s short film \u201cNo Drop to the Sea\u201d, which is hosted at the exhibition, acts as a complementary element, as it explores, through the voice of Vrahimis Ioannou, the technical achievements related to the water infrastructure which transformed the peninsula of Akamas and the area of Paphos in the mid-20th century. All the above contribute to the creation of a dialogue which connects the past with the present.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t\t\tThe works at the Anassa Hotel testify a more intimate preoccupation of Costa with themes such as the flow of time and the space between the real and the imaginary. The artist enters the warehouses of the Anassa Hotel to collect materials that are no longer of any use to the hotel, such as bedding and various metals, which she reuses as raw material for her works, placing them in a new cycle of life. The forms of the sculptural works, as well as the images that the artist creates, are on the threshold of representation and abstraction, transporting us to a world where humans coexist with mythical and unreal forces. Alongside these works, she opens a dialogue with the community as well as the sculptor A. Moditis, exhibiting works of his own and giving them a different connotation and materiality.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t\t\tFinally, a specially designed map connects the exhibition spaces with the surrounding area as well as with points where water sources have been traced. Through this roaming, a new reading of the region emerges, where myths, water and ecology become the central points of reference.<\/span><\/div>\n
