SUMMARY:Stories of Intimacy
DESCRIPTION:Stories of Intimacy \nThe Limassol Municipal Arts Center- Apothikes Papadaki\, presents the group exhibition “Stories of Intimacy” curated by its Artistic Director Mariza Bargilly. \nThe inauguration will be held by the Mayor of Limassol Mr. Nicos Nicolaides on Friday\, February 11\, 2022\, at 19.00. \nAccording to the curator’s note\, intimacy is often automatically linked to lovemaking or the sight of a naked body. But is that all? Surely the naked body free from clothes appears more vulnerable and exposed\, both in the eyes of a lover and in the eyes of a spectator who observes a work of art. But a space or a location can also be familiar: a country\, a landscape\, a feeling\, or even a smell. \nWhy do artists over time choose to capture intimacy or lack thereof through their works? It arises as a need to understand their personal boundaries and as an occasion for the beginning of a dialogue between the work and the public\, by raising social and emotional concerns. Revealing aspects of personal life free from beautification and idealization\, especially in times like these where “looks” prevails over “essence”\, is a bold act and requires inner strength. The boundaries between private and public space\, both theoretically and literally\, are no longer clear; the artist removes the limits\, and the private\, the intimate\, ceases to exist as such. \nIn this exhibition\, works are exhibited that “reveal” aspects of the personal history of the artists\, sometimes through symbolism and allegories and sometimes presenting them exactly as they are. \nExhibition Duration:\nFebruary 11 to March 19\, 2022. \nParticipating Artists:\nNikolas Antoniou\, Zohar Barak\, Marianna Constanti\, Renos Efesopoulos\, Tatiana Ferahian\, Despina Fysentzou\, Luis Guzman\, Chiaki Kamikawa\, Boyana Loizou\, Miriam McConnon\, \, Christina Papakyriakou\, Nicoletta Papamichael and Nina Sumarac. \nVenue:\nLimassol Municipal Arts Center – Apothikes Papadaki \nOpening Hours:\nTuesday – Friday 10.00 – 18.00\nSaturday 10.00 – 14.00\nTelephone 25 367700 \nwww.facebook.com / Limassol Municipal Arts Centre – Apothikes Papadaki\nInstagram.com / apothikespapadaki

SUMMARY:Starlight 4 - Cyprus Symphony Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:CYPRUS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA\n	STARLIGHT 4 \n	Τhe Cyprus Symphony Orchestra is honoured to share the stage in this programme with the charismatic\, world-class maestro Carlos Kalmar. During his vast career\, Carlos Kalmar has held the position of Music Director of the Oregon Philharmonic for eighteen years and has conducted the most celebrated symphony orchestras of the US\, such as the Chicago\, New York\, Los Angeles\, Boston and San Francisco. Under Kalmar’s rigorous conducting and the CySO\, the audience will enjoy two romantic works written at the end of the 19th century. \n	Τhe programme will open with Antonín Dvořák’s (1841–1904) wondrous Symphony no. 9\, known as the symphony “of the New World”\, which he complete in 1893\, a year after his arrival in the United States. Intrigued with the folk idioms of America\, Dvořák embodied the peculiarities of Negro and Indian music in the themes of this symphony. \n	Next\, Carlos Kalmar will conduct The Overture and the Polovtsian March from Alexander Borodin’s (1833–1887) exotic opera Prince Igor. Infused with Russian folk song idioms and “oriental” melodies\, Borodin didn’t manage to complete this grandiose opera. The Polovtsian March – which signifies the triumphal return of the Polovtsian army – was completed by Borodin and orchestrated by Rimsky-Korsakov. \n	Antonín Dvořák: Symphony no. 9 in E minor\, op. 95 (“From the New World”)\n	Alexander Borodin: Excerpts from the opera Prince Igor: Overture and Polovtsian March \n	Conductor: Carlos Kalmar \n	Venues:\n	Lefkosia:  Nicosia Municipal Theatre\,Thursday 17 February 2022\, 20:30 \n\n	Lemesos: Pattihio Municipal Theatre Friday 18 February 2022\, 20:30 \n\n	Ticket prices: \n\n	Stalls Premium Seats: €35 / €28 (concession)\n	Stalls Regular Seats: €30 / €24 (concession)\n	Balcony: €22 / €17 (concession) \n	Concession tickets are available to: Students\, soldiers\, pensioners\, large and five-member families on presentation of ID.
