DESCRIPTION:WIP – Brave New Humanity \nARTS & TECHNOLOGY FESTIVAL 2022\n \n11th-23rdof November 2022 @ CYENS\n \nA festival celebrating Art and Technology \nby CYENS Centre of Excellence\n \nThe CYENS Centre of Excellencepresents WIP – Brave New Humanity/ Arts and Technology Festival 2022.\n \nThe WIP (Work in Progress)festival is an ever-evolving series of activities and exhibitionsfocused on arts & technology synergies. Organized by CYENS’ Thinker Maker Space\, the ITICA Research Group& the Museum Lab Research Group\, together with esteemed collaborators\, the festivalis breaking new ground in the east Mediterranean\, aiming to become an annual reference point for scientists and creatives experimentingat the intersection of Arts\, Science and Technology. \n \nThis year’s festival is expanding; it hosts over 80 experiences and presents media artworks\, performances\, research projects\, talks\, workshops\, screenings\, and interactive games from invited local and visiting artists\, universities\, organizations\, and CYENS. \n \nAll activities will take placeat CYENS’ premises and other venues in the proximity of the center between the 11thof and 23rdof November 2022.  \n*Due to the announced national mourning period\, the concerts during the Opening of the WIP Festival\, on 11/11/2022 will be postponed. The exhibition opening\, as well as talks and workshops planned from the 11th to the 23rd will run as planned. A closing party with music will be rescheduled\nand announced in the following days. Stay tuned! \n \nThe festival’s program includes: \n   \n\n\n		The S+T+ARTS – Repairing the Present Local Prototyping Park\, showcasing “Cyprus Vital Signs” by RSC3 CYENS’ resident artist Joseph Hovadik\, along with invited artists working in the framework of S+T+ARTS aims and vision\n\n		The Electronic Festival of Ars Electronica’s Animation Festival on Tour\, presenting a selection of best works chosen by the jury of the Computer Animation category Prix Ars Electronica 2021\, under the auspices of the Austrian Embassy\n\n		A selection from the French Institute’s Escape exhibition\, under the auspices of the French Embassy\n\n		Selected student projects from the Critical Data course of the Interface Cultures Master’s program of the University of Art and Design Linz\, Austria.\n\n		Selected student projects from the University of Nicosia and the Cyprus University of Technology.\n\n		Artworks\, installations\, performances\, talks and workshops from artists\, technologists and academics invited from Cyprus and abroad.\n\n		Selected projects from the CYENS Thinker Maker Space Artist in Residence program\n\n		Selected projects and presentations from CYENS’ Research and Innovation Departments\n\n		Live music and a street party.\n\n \nWIP 22 Festival’s full program\, details and updates can be found at the festival’s website (https://wip.cyens.org.cy/)\, the CYENS website\, as well as CYENS Thinker Maker Space’s website and social media outlets.\n \nCYENS invites the broader public\, as well as special interest groups from the culture\, academia and industry sectors to enjoy a plethora of experiences that reveal the potential of interdisciplinary synergies and reinforce the dialogue between general and expert communities from Cyprus and abroad.\n \n* WIP 22 – Brave New Humanity is part of the Repairing the Present\, European project which has received funding from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks\, Content and Technology under grant agreement LC01641664.  \n \n \nCuratorial Note \nby Marios Constantinides\, Stella Taousiani\, Myrto Aristidou \n \nIn an era of exponential technological developments creatives\, scientists\, and innovators are zealously rethinking natural and artificial resources by embracing emerging technologies. The WIP Festival looks at this Brave New Humanity that explores how our sensorial\, analogue selves fabricate new civilizations and augmented worlds that are simultaneously close and far from the “natural”\, as D.
