DESCRIPTION:Cyprus Backyard Ultra (CBU) is the island’s only official Backyard Ultra endurance race and the only ultramarathon event of its kind in Cyprus\, held annually in the Larnaca region. The race follows the internationally recognized format created by Lazarus Lake (USA)\, where athletes must complete a 6.706 km loop every hour\, on the hour\, until only one runner remains. \nThere is no predefined distance or time limit. The race continues for as long as participants can endure\, testing both physical and mental strength. Any runner who fails to complete a loop within the hour is eliminated\, making this one of the most unique and demanding formats in endurance sports. \nThe course takes place on scenic trail routes with natural terrain\, offering panoramic views and a challenging elevation profile\, while remaining accessible for both participants and spectators. \nCBU has developed a strong international character\, attracting 100+ athletes from 18 countries in its latest edition.
