Agia Napa et la mer: une autre dimension
The walk is postponed until further notice
Cette promenade donne un aperçu du lien historique entre la région d’Agia Napa et la mer mais aussi de la croissance récente du petit village de pêcheurs devenu une splendide et moderne station touristique. Ce circuit donne à chacun la possibilité d’en apprendre davantage sur la région et d’admirer ses beautés naturelles. Les participants montent à bord d’un bus « vintage » bien conservé en direction du parc aux sculptures, une galerie en plein air donnant sur la mer présentant le travail de plus de 100 artistes ayant exposé leurs œuvres à travers le monde. Puis, un court trajet jusqu’aux époustouflantes grottes marines d’Agia Napa et au parc national du Cap Gkreko vous est proposé. S’en suit une brève promenade à Kamara tou Koraka, une formation géologique incontournable qui ressemble à un pont ou une arche situé au-dessus d’une grotte marine, puis la découverte de la pittoresque chapelle dédiée à Agioi Anargyroi située au nord du Cap Gkreko. Après une pause café, l’excursion continue le long de la côte pour finir à l’église byzantine Agia Varvara du 15ème siècle.
Les commentaires du guide visent à familiariser les participants avec la région et offrent davantage d’informations sur d’autres sites que les visiteurs pourraient vouloir découvrir par eux-mêmes ou dans le cadre d’une excursion organisée.

Découvrez la vieille ville de Lefkosia (Nicosie) et ses remparts
La visite guidée «Découvrez la vieille ville de Lefkosia (Nicosie) et ses remparts» a été conçue pour offrir aux visiteurs, une vue d’ensemble de l’ancienne cité fortifiée et de son évolution à travers les siècles.
Ce fascinant parcours pédestre met tout particulièrement l’accent sur l’architecture impressionnante de la ville, de la période médiévale à nos jours; ainsi que sur certaines de ses remarquables églises, d’une importance historique majeure.
Sur le chemin, les participants auront l’occasion de visiter divers ateliers et boutiques. Des artisans, tels que des fabricants de bougies, des forgerons, des fabricants de chaises, des cordonniers, des chaudronniers et des tailleurs s’adonnent à leur art de manière traditionnelle, offrant un aperçu des commerces et des loisirs d’autrefois.

Visite à pied de Larnaca
Visite à pied de Larnaca commence par un passage par les intéressants édifices protégés datant de 1919, du temps de l’administration coloniale, pour continuer le long de la célèbre promenade Foinikoudes [Palmiers], une bande côtière très prisée, grouillant de monde et d’animation.
Les visiteurs poursuivront leur découverte, empruntant des rues bordées d’anciens bâtiments restaurés, pour arriver au vieux marché et à la cathédrale d’Agios Lazaros [Saint-Lazare], le saint patron de la ville.
Le tour se termine par la visite de la rue Zinonos Kitieos, en passant par le musée Pierides, situé dans un hôtel particulier datant de 1840, puis par le club de Larnaka, un édifice classé, construit vers le milieu du XIXe siècle.

Faites du shopping authentique à Chypre
S’il est vrai que Chypre offre une expérience de shopping moderne telle que vous l’attendez d’un pays européen, avec de grandes rues commerçantes, des centres commerciaux regroupant de grandes marques et des commerçants indépendants, l’île conserve également des commerces authentiques avec des marchés traditionnels, des objets artisanaux et des produits uniques fabriqués localement.

À l’artisanat s’ajoute la production de plats et boissons traditionnels tels que des sucreries, des mets minutieusement préparés, de l’huile d’olive, et le plus vieux vin du monde.
L’île est aussi populaire pour sa confection de vêtements sur-mesure et de bijoux artisanaux, en or et en argent ainsi que d’objets en cuir. À Chypre, avoir des vêtements conformes à ses exigences, son goût et sa personnalité est aisé.

Artisanat traditionnel
L’artisanat est pratiqué dans certains villages où les méthodes traditionnelles ont été transmises de génération en génération, ainsi que dans les centres d’artisanat de l’île. De nombreux ateliers accueillent les visiteurs qui sont invités à observer les artisans à l’oeuvre, tandis qu’ils créent avec habileté et dans le respect des techniques anciennes. De plus, les artisans aiment à partager des informations sur l’origine et l’histoire des objets réalisés les rendant encore plus uniques. Vous trouverez également un large éventail d’art populaire dans les boutiques de souvenirs.
Dentelle: Les célèbres ‘Lefkaritika’, nom chypriote pour désigner les linges brodés, sont des pièces de dentelle faites main et produites dans le village de montagne de Lefkara dans la région de Larnaka (Larnaca) depuis l’époque vénitienne. Les linges sont réalisés de manière très spécifique selon un processus à la fois complexe et fastidieux ; ils sont donc très prisés. Vous pouvez acheter des nappes très décoratives, des rideaux, des napperons et des tapis décoratifs dans les boutiques locales, ou, pour une pièce vraiment unique, vous pouvez les faire fabriquer sur commande. Seule la dentelle réalisée de manière traditionnelle est considérée authentique et est inscrite sur la liste du patrimoine mondial immatériel de l’UNESCO. La légende raconte que le célèbre peintre Léonard de Vinci, visita le village en 1481 et acheta un linge d’autel en dentelle, dont il fit don à la cathédrale de Milan.
Une autre forme de broderie de dentelle, consistant à crocheter la dentelle de manière particulièrement serrée, est également réalisée dans de nombreux villages traditionnels, et constitue un beau souvenir à rapporter chez soi ou à offrir.
Produits tissés: La pratique du tissage était très développée à l’époque byzantine et l’est toujours dans le village de Fyti, dans la région de Pafos (Paphos). Cette technique est utilisée pour tisser des motifs géométriques colorés texturés sur des tissus en coton non teints, en particulier des nappes rectangulaires, des serviettes de table et des couvre-lits. On peut trouver de telles pièces à Fyti, ainsi que dans les centres d’artisanat et quelques boutiques de souvenirs.
Poterie: La poterie est un art millénaire sur l’île, où dans les temps anciens, les vases d’argile rouge faisaient partie intégrante de la vie quotidienne. On s’en servait pour stocker et transporter des liquides tels que le vin et l’eau, ainsi que pour stocker des produits agricoles. La tradition de la poterie prévaut dans les villages de Kornos [région de Larnaka (Larnaca)] et Foini [région de Lemesos (Limassol)] Vous pouvez également trouver des pièces artisanales au centre artisanal de Chypre à Nicosie (Lefkosia).
Dinanderie (cuivre): Chypre est considérée comme l’île du cuivre, et ce métal de base était un produit d’exportation important dans l’Antiquité. Les chaudronniers fabriquant toujours des pots et bouilloires en cuivre, ainsi que des ‘mbriki’, petits pots à long manche pour préparer le café chypriote. Ce type de pots est disponible dans les ateliers et les boutiques de souvenirs. Si vous rapportez un paquet de café chypriote, il est conseillé de rapporter également un « mbriki »!
Argenterie: L’art du filigrane, connu sous le nom de ‘trifouri’, est un art délicat qui consiste à tordre de fins fils d’argent pour créer de magnifiques bijoux faits main, tels que des boucles d’oreilles, des pendentifs et des broches, ainsi que des couverts décoratifs et arts de la table, dont le résultat a un effet de « toile d’araignée ». Ce type d’artisanat traditionnel est toujours pratiqué, surtout à Lefkara, mais vous pouvez trouver des pièces filigranés dans les bijouteries et les boutiques de souvenirs.
Vannerie: La vannerie remonte aux temps anciens, à l’époque où on tressait à des fins pratiques spécifiques, tels que le transport des produits agricoles, l’habillage de bouteilles pour éviter les fuites de liquides. Les paniers sont encore réalisés de façon traditionnelle dans le village d’Ineia dans la région de Pafos, dans le village d’Akrotiri dans la région de Lemesos, et dans les villages Xylotymbou et Avgorou dans la région d’Ammochostos, ainsi qu’au centre d’artisanat et dans d’autres ateliers. Les paniers sont de formes et tailles différentes. De nos jours, le ‘Talari’, panier plat et coloré très connu est couramment utilisé comme décoration murale.
Gourdes décorées: La gourde est un légume de la famille des cucurbitacées, suspendue à une plante grimpante. Elle se décline sous différentes formes et tailles. Depuis de nombreuses années, les habitants de l’île décoraient le légume sec et l’utilisaient à des fins pratiques. La gourde la plus utile avait une forme de bouteille et était traditionnellement utilisé comme carafe à vin, chandelier et récipient pour le sel ou olives. La coutume de décorer les gourdes avec des motifs géométriques ou des motifs d’animaux et de fleurs se fait avec un couteau ou un tisonnier brûlant, et est toujours pratiquée dans les villages aujourd’hui. On peut trouver des gourdes décorées dans les magasins de souvenirs.

Whilst there are many pieces ready to buy off-the-peg at the island’s dedicated leather shops, visitors can also have something custom-made for an original and distinctive item that is not only tailored to specific requirements, but offers fantastic value.
Tailoring: Many locals have occasion wear tailored for big events – such as weddings and christenings – and as such, seamstresses and tailors have a large selection of fabrics and designs available. Custom-made shirts, three-piece suits, ball gowns and wedding dresses are very competitively priced compared to other countries, and can be made-to-order in a reasonably quick time frame after choosing your fabric and being measured.
Beauty Products: A range of beauty products are made with a number of traditional Cypriot ‘ingredients’ from nature, including donkey milk, olive oil, rose and herbs. Olive oil soap is the most widely available product, whilst other products are more specialised.

Agros village
Located in the Troodos mountain range, in Pitsilia region of Lemesos (Limassol) district, Agros sits at an altitude of 1.100 metres.
The layout of this picturesque village resembles that of a theatre, embraced by the surrounding mountains, Agros is nestled in stunning environs with panoramic forest views, making it ideal for agrotourism. It has maintained its traditional character and customs and grows a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.
The village is famous for its cultivation of roses, along with its production of cured meats (sausages, ‘Lountza’ and ‘Hiromeri’), homemade marmalades and sweets. Visitors can see these traditional practises at the local workshops where rose oil distillation, sweet making and meat processing take place.
