The carob, the fruit of the carob tree (teratcias), was the golden berry of the oldest Cypriots. In recent years, its value in our diet has made it one of the protagonists of the sweet taste of vegetarians and vegans.
Under the hot August sun, the farmers patiently collected the carob fruits. Then they sold them to cooperatives and sent them for export.
Our little Cyprus held third place in carob production after Spain and Italy.
The carob festival, is a celebration that honors local traditions during the harvest season and Cypriot hospitality.
With traditional music, local delicacies, crafts and activities for young and old.
The opening parade will be the beggining, throught the streets, with accompanying of traditional music.
There will be food available in the square for the welcome.
There will be a reenactment of the harvest of the terrace, such as the falling of the carob and their collection, and their weighing in a scale.
On both days, workshops will be held, where the public can participate.
They will make their own 1. Lanterns with recyclable glass bottle), silk cocoon, and carob seeds.

In the afternoon presentation of a traditional children’s fairy tale.
On Sunday evening, the theatrical performance «panayrkatzie sheirka » will take place.
