Loures Beach – Blue Flag

A scenic and popular beach.

Located at the famous coastal resort of Agios Tychonas in the Lemesos (Limassol) district, Loures Beach is a scenic rocky and sandy beach with calm, clean waters and access to many facilities.

Facilities on the beach include toilets, showers, changing rooms, sun beds, umbrellas and watersports, with accommodation, restaurants, entertainment and kiosks in the general area. There is also a pathway along the beach.

Lifeguards with lifesaving equipment and first aid services are stationed at the beach from April – October.

Kourion Beach – Blue Flag

A beautiful beach with an ancient history.

Located in the greater Lemesos (Limassol) area of Episkopi Bay, Kourion beach is a 1 km long coast that is particularly striking with its natural palette of colours, and a regal and ancient history.

Its designated swimming area has an exceptionally wide shore, comprised of sand and pebbles. The seawaters are crystal-clear and varying shades of blue that beautifully contrast with the surrounding white hills. Windsurfing can also be enjoyed here.

Facilities on the beach include toilets, showers, changing rooms, sun beds, umbrellas and several fish taverns. Within a short distance (about 1 km) there are convenience stores, a children’s playground and accommodation.

One of the island’s most famous archaeological sites – that of ancient Kourion – is close by and well worth a visit, especially for its magnificent Greco-Roman amphitheatre where cultural events are still held to this day.

Castella Beach, Agios Tychonas – Blue Flag

A narrow beach with trendy beach bars.

Located at the famous coastal resort of Agios Tychonas in the Lemesos (Limassol) district, the beach of Castella is a narrow, sandy and pebbly coast, set amidst the greenery of trees.

The beach and its clean waters are divided between the quieter sections, and those that centre around the popular beach bars, drawing in the younger crowds with beach parties and live DJs.

Facilities on the beach include toilets, showers, changing rooms, sun beds, umbrellas, beach bars and several restaurants along the coastline. There is also a coastal footpath that ends at Castella, having started at Parekklisia beach, 5 km away.

Kalymnos Beach – Blue Flag

A beach with a popular campsite.

Located by Pentakomo village, about 10 km east of the main hotel district of Lemesos (Limassol), the beach of Kalymnos is part of the famous Governor’s Beach, which is one of the most popular coastal areas of the island.

Whilst Governor’s beach is characterized by chalk white rocks that extend into the deep blue sea and uneven surfaces, Kalymnos has flat ground and a long, narrow stretch of sandy coastline. Both boast calm, clean seawaters and provide a fantastic setting for walking amidst nature, as such they are popular with all, including families with small children.

Facilities on the beach include toilets, changing rooms, sun beds, umbrellas, a children’s playground, beach cafes and the campsite. There are also several traditional restaurants, known for their fresh fish.

Armonia Beach – Blue Flag

A narrow strip protected from winds.

Located at the famous coastal resort of Agios Tychonas in the Lemesos (Limassol) district, the beach of Armonia is a narrow strip of sandy shore that gradually widens towards the west, with clean seawaters that are protected from winds.

Facilities on the beach include toilets, showers, changing rooms, sun beds, umbrellas and water sports, and a small children’s playground. There are also restaurants and kiosks in the general area.

Aphrodite Beach – Blue Flag

A coast that is abundant in greenery.

Located in the famous coastal resort of Agios Tychonas in the Lemesos (Limassol) district, Aphrodite Beach is quiet and relaxing with a long sandy shore of pebbles and dark grey sands, and a coastal footpath lined with acacias, eucalyptus trees and oleanders.

The seawaters are clean and the coast gives way to a lovely grassy area with shade provided by further palm and eucalyptus trees.

Facilities on the beach include toilets, showers, changing rooms, sun beds, umbrellas and two beach café/restaurants that also offer free use of their additional facilities to customers. There is also a small park by the second establishment.

Aoratoi Beach – Blue Flag

A beach with a unique natural character.

Located in the ‘cosmopolitan’ Pyrgos area of the Lemesos (Limassol) district, Aoratoi is a beach of particular natural beauty and an unusual coastal character, which is flanked by prestigious hotel accommodation.

Its unique combination of semi-circular sandy coves and large flat rocks run parallel to the shore, and the large, shallow pools of water make it especially ideal for children and toddlers. Its deeper waters can be accessed by a small jetty that goes over the rocks, and the sea tends to get wavy during the afternoons. The close proximity of the rocks to the shore (10 m) make it a popular spot for anglers.

Taking its name from the Greek word ‘invisible’, the area is quiet and tranquil and largely untouched with acacia and eucalyptus trees offering shade in the summer, whilst in the early autumn, the white sand lily flower blooms right on the beach.

Facilities on the beach include toilets (only the ecological kind), showers and changing rooms, sun beds, umbrellas and a water sports centre. The restaurant facilities are limited and are found further west, and closer to the main road. As such, most beachgoers opt to take a picnic.

Lifeguards with lifesaving equipment and first aid services are stationed at the beach from April – October. The beach also offers disabled access, including a special wheelchair at the lifeguard tower to help disabled persons enter the sea with assistance from the lifeguards.

Access is easy by foot, bike or car with car-parking facilities available. A 14 km trail that begins at the beach connects all the central beaches of Lemesos.

Akti Olympion B Beach – Blue Flag

A coastal strip full of amenities.

Located in the town of Lemesos (Limassol), the beach of Akti Olympion B joins the beach of Akti Olympion A, and together they form a 2 km strip that is considered to be one of the most accessible and convenient in Lemesos, offering a wide variety of amenities in addition to its lovely coastline.

Comprised of dark grey sands – that are compacted enough to suit jogging – and calm, clean waters, the beach is popular with all.

Facilities on the beach include toilets, showers and changing rooms (only at the east side of the beach), sun beds, umbrellas and water sports, a beach volleyball court, a children’s playground, beach café, benches under the shade of trees, and access to the facilities of the Akti Olympion A beach too. The general area is also lined with cafes, bars, restaurants, kiosks, shops, hotels and entertainment establishments. The beach offers disabled access.

The nearby pier of Enaerios is popular with anglers, and its square offers sheltered benches in a grassy area with lush trees. The beach is also a good starting point for exploring the area further with plenty to see and do a short step away from its sands.

Access is easy by foot, bike, bus or car with a network of cycle paths, pedestrian lanes, public transport and car parks in the general vicinity.

Faros Beach, Pervolia, Larnaka (Larnaca) – Blue Flag

A picturesque village coast.

The famous Faros (Lighthouse) Beach of the Larnaka (Larnaca) village of Pervolia is a 500-metre strip of fine sands of varying shades of beige, calm, shallow seawaters and ample trees and greenery. It is located just south of Pervolia at Cape Kiti.

Facilities on the beach include toilets, showers, changing rooms, sun beds, umbrellas, dustbins, recycling bins and a children’s playground. Lifeguards with lifesaving equipment and first aid services are stationed at the beach from June – September.

There are also various water sports available along the coast and a small volleyball court, as well as food and drink options, making it a good choice for both families and younger crowds. The lighthouse itself is picturesque, and a famous monument of the area.

Access is easy by foot, bike, bus or car, with car parking facilities, cycling trails and walking trails.

Yanathes Beach – Blue Flag

A sandy, eco-friendly beach.

Yanathes Beach in the Larnaka (Larnaca) sub-district of Voroklini is a 300-metre long strip of fine sands with varying shades of brown and beige, calm, clear and shallow seawaters, and local plants and greenery.

Facilities on the beach include toilets, showers, changing rooms, sun beds, umbrellas, dustbins, recycling bins and environmentally-friendly signage.

Lifeguards with lifesaving equipment and first aid services are stationed at the beach from June – October.

There are also various water sports available along the coast, as well as food and drink options, making it a good choice for families and younger crowds.

Access to the beach is easy by foot, bike, bus or car, with car parking facilities, as well as facilities for parking bikes.
