3rd tradition festival “T Ai Demetriou”.
The Agios Demetrios Marathasas Development Association organizes the third tradition festival “T Ai Demetriou”.
The festival, which will be held on Sunday the 24th of October at the centre of the village, focuses upon the traditional red clay pottery which is included among UNESCO’s National Catalogue of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Additionally, traditional products of the Southern Marathasa area will be exhibited. The visitors will have the chance to learn about the traditional red clay pottery and participate in an interactive procedure of shaping the clay and creating pots.    
Furthermore, the visitors will be able to witness the traditional dipping of soutzoukos and the preparation of palouzes. Also, they will have the chance of tasting traditional delicacies and buying the traditional products of the Southern Marathasa area.   
At the festival visitors can enjoy traditional folklore music and dances by the Cypriot Tradition Group “Perkallos”, as well as food and drinks.
The festival is under the auspices of the Minister of Agriculture Rural Development and the Environment, Mr Costas Kadis.  
Where is Agios Demetrios
Agios Demetrios is a beautiful verdure village on the Troodos Mountains. Its southern edge borders Foini, Tris Elies in the east and northeast, and Paliomilos in the west and northwest. The village sits at an altitude of approximately 1000 metres and it is surrounded by thick forest.   
The opening of the festival will take place at 10:00 a.m. We will have a brief tribute to education at Agios Demetrios, as this year we celebrate 100 years from the establishment of the first school at the village. We will have a presentation by Kostis Kokkinoftas, Author and Researcher of The Study Centre of the Holly Monastery of Kykkos, while we will have with us one of the teachers of the school which closed down in 1983.
At 10:00 a.m., once the festival commences, pottery workshops will also begin along with the preparing of all the delicacies.
At 11:30 a.m. theCypriot Tradition Group will present traditional folklore music and dances. Also during the festival there will be traditional cultural attractions and activities for both young and old.  
In the course of the festival there will be a projection of the documentary of the Development Association entitled “Following the red clay”.
