The Two Sides of Charis Ioannou – 9.9.2026

Acclaimed jazz saxophonist and photographer Charis Ioannou returns to the Axiothea Mansion with a distinctive multimedia performance that brings together two complementary facets of his artistic practice: music and street photography.
His quartet presents eight original jazz compositions, each accompanied by a curated selection of his own photographs. On stage, music and photography become two expressions of the same artistic vision, unfolding as a unified aesthetic experience.
Over the past two decades, Charis Ioannou has established an international presence on the jazz scene, performing at major festivals and concert venues in Cyprus and abroad, including Greece, Italy, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Serbia, Poland, Germany, Lebanon, Senegal and Kazakhstan.
During the past five years, he has also developed an active career in street photography, participating in group exhibitions in Rome, Los Angeles and the United Arab Emirates, while also presenting a solo exhibition in New York.
This multimedia production was recently presented at the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation in Athens, where music and photography came together in a critically acclaimed seventy-minute performance. In July 2026, it was also presented to great acclaim at the Kraków Jazz Festival.
The 29th Cultural Festival of the University of Cyprus hosts the production’s premiere in Cyprus.
