Carnival Museum of Lemesos

The museum is housed in the Panos Solomonidis Municipal Cultural Center and spans three specially designed floors, creating an interactive space that combines education with entertainment.

The experience begins with the discovery of authentic carnival exhibits, which once adorned their cabinets and drawers.

The tour continues with five thematic sections where visitors can open drawers and explore exhibits related to Tsiknopempti (Smokey Fat Thursday), the Grand Parade, music and the serenades , dances, and the Children’s Parade. In the museum’s large hall, visitors can watch educational videos, learn to dance carnival dances, and participate in interactive activities that include matching objects with the correct costumes.

In addition, visitors can watch archival material, while the rooms dedicated to costume and float designers provide another unique opportunity to explore the art behind the carnival.

The museum ends with an impressive corridor leading to a courtyard, where visitors can walk the routes of the grand parade and discover a series of constructions and decorative elements that took the form of local celebrations.
