“Here the beauty of some pleasant hill invites the wandering mariners to take their ease among its flowery verdure, where the zephyrs continually come and go, filling with sweet odors the island and the encompassing sea…”

Leonardo da Vinci, 1452-1519 A.D.

The great artist Leonardo da Vinci spoke these words about Cyprus when visiting the island in 1481, and they still ring true today. As the easternmost island in the Mediterranean, Cyprus is a natural departure-point for exploring the surrounding countries. And with its favourable location at the crossroads of three continents, you can easily combine your holiday to the island with a visit to any of the three. From a myriad of Greek islands to the Holy Land, short cruises of 2-5 days with excursions are available onboard large, comfortable ‘floating hotels’ and luxury liners that feature a range of accommodation, cuisine, entertainment and leisure facilities.

Conversely, most international cruise ships sailing the region include Cyprus on their itineraries, calling at Lemesos (Limassol), Larnaka (Larnaca) and Pafos (Paphos) ports, where passengers are able to spend some hours on the island – and visit the many places of interest. If you are stopping in Cyprus as part of a wider cruise, you will be delighted to discover how much there is to see and do within easy reach of the ports.
