Colourful Villages
Kalopanagiotis
Kalopanagiotis is a beautiful village located in the Troodos mountain range in the valley of Marathasa, which administratively belongs to Nicosia District. It is one of the most beautiful mountain resorts in Cyprus, which features thermal springs, stone-built traditional houses, a lovely old neighbourhood with cobbled streets and uninterrupted panoramic view of Marathasa Valley. It is ideal for agrοtourism as it is nestled in a peacefully green landscape.
The Monastery of Agios Ioannis Lampadistis, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, is a real jewel of great historical importance, since it houses three Byzantine churches under one roof, which have extremely well-preserved frescoes dating from the 9th to the 15th century.

Steni
The village of Steni is located in the northwestern part of Cyprus, five kilometres from the clear blue sea of the Gulf of Chrysochous. Its mild climate makes it ideal for year-round getaways, as there are several agrotourism accommodations in the village.
The fertile soil of the area produces an abundance of fruits and vegetables, while beautiful, colourful flowers and plants bloom all year round. The inhabitants of Steni were and still are engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry, which is honoured as a tradition in the village at the Museum of Rural Life.
The view from the eastern hill of the village towards Polis Chrysochous Bay and Pafos Forest is truly magnificent. Vouni

Arsos

Kritou Terra

Lania

Cypr współfinansuje również projekt MedCycleTour, który opiera się na Europejskim Szlaku Śródziemnomorskim – EuroVelo 8, jednej z 15 długodystansowych tras rowerowych w sieci EuroVelo, która łączy 11 krajów. MedCycleTour ma na celu rozwój turystyki rowerowej w regionie Morza Śródziemnego, poprzez zapewnienie ponadnarodowych narzędzi przyciągających turystów. Projekt jest współfinansowany przez Program Interreg Mediterranean, a jego budżet wynosi ponad 2,5 mln euro.
Projekt MedCycleRoute przyczynia się do rozwoju EuroVelo 8 – Szlaku Śródziemnomorskiego, poprzez wymianę dobrych praktyk, badanie istniejących tras rowerowych, opracowanie regionalnych i ponadnarodowych planów działania, przygotowanie i publikację materiałów promocyjnych związanych z EuroVelo 8 oraz realizację projektów pilotażowych, takich jak oznakowanie, narzędzia promocyjne (strony internetowe, aplikacje itp.) i programy przyjazne rowerzystom.
W projekcie, którego liderem jest rząd Andaluzji – Agencja Robót Publicznych, Andaluzyjskie Ministerstwo Rozwoju i Mieszkalnictwa (Hiszpania) – oprócz Ministerstwa Turystyki uczestniczy 10 innych partnerów z 7 krajów: Europejska Federacja Cyklistów (Belgia), Alpes Maritimes (Francja), Region Katalonii (Hiszpania), Grecja Zachodnia (Grecja), Region Friuli Venezia Giulia (Włochy), Prowincja Mantova (Włochy), Centrum Rozwoju Regionalnego Koper (Słowenia), Chorwacka Narodowa Rada Turystyki (Chorwacja) oraz Klaster Innowacji i Rozwoju Eko-Społecznego (Chorwacja).

Trasa rozpoczyna się w miejscowości Kalavasos i prowadzi lekko pod górę w kierunku miejscowości Asgata. Przejście przez wąskie uliczki wioski i dalej pod górę do Vasa, Sanida, a następnie do Kellaki. Po drodze napotkamy tereny leśne i wyjątkowe widoki. Zjedź w dół, aby dotrzeć do wioski Eptagoneia i małej, malowniczej wioski Akapnou. Dalej w kierunku Ora, Lageia, Vavla i dalej w dół do Chirokitia. Przejeżdżamy przez malowniczą i piękną wioskę Tochni i docieramy do punktu startowego w Kalavasos.

Starożytne Vasilikos rozszerzone
Trasa rozpoczyna się przy plaży Gubernatora, kierując się na zachód do Monagrouli. Trzykilometrowy podjazd pod górę prowadzi do pięknej wioski Asgata. Należy przejść przez wąskie uliczki wioski i zjechać w dół do Kalavasos. Brukowane, tradycyjne uliczki, okazały kościół Najświętszej Marii Panny i meczet to jedne z wielu rzeczy, które można podziwiać w Kalavasos. Następnie należy udać się na południe i odkryć wioskę Tochni, w której z pewnością zachwyci starożytny kościół. Kolejna jest wioska Choirokoitia, gdzie znajduje się neolityczna osada Choirokoitia, która od 1998 r. jest wpisana na listę światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO. Sarinu i Agios Teodoros to kolejne wioski, po których dojedziesz do Zygi i przystani Zygi.
Kontynuuj w kierunku Vasiliko, aby zakończyć trasę okrężną na plaży Gubernatora.
